maybe it's my lack of sleep or maybe it's my new-found sense of individuality. but either way, i'm genuinely disappointed in katy perry. if these divorce rumors are true, and another one is indeed biting the dust, the world just MIGHT end in 2012. (ok, i'm being dramatic) but really, i think KP sells herself as an individual -- and i mean individual as in... a unique icon. but really, sweetie? if there's anything more cliche than a failed marriage in hollywood, it is currently evading me.
maybe movie stars and recording artists should go through an extensive couple's counseling/couple's therapy prior to tying the (loosely tied) knot. heck, maybe everyone couple should! i mean, WHAT on God's green earth is the purpose of getting married when you're just gonna divorce them in 14 months (or 72 days in some other cases)?? i don't get it. i really don't. coz if ppl are worried about formalities and doing "the proper" thing, it clearly has NO bearing when the going gets tough. so why even go through the PRETENSE of being devoted to someone? HM?? ... i dono, maybe it's a hollywood/social conspiracy to create more jobs in our failing economy. "YES! let's create more jobs by throwing money down the drain and have this LAVISH wedding so we can support the little ppl who bake 10 tiered cakes and manufacture $10,000 wedding dresses! OH! and honey, let's take it one step further and get lawyers to divorce us after a year!" but CLEARLY, these ppl can't be that little if they have been noticed by the hollywood elite! oh no... no no, they're just relatively little. yet something tells me most stars in this day and age are not thinking about ways they can benefit the economy with their love-lives. but that's just a hunch. ...
BUT, if the goal IS to stimulate the economy with their love-lives, why don't they just employ relationship specialists to ameliorate the situation rather than hiring lawyers?! although after watching Gangs of New York today (yes, i kno, its viewing is long overdue), i am tempted to physically beat into the feeble-minded of the world the definition of "oath", "vow", or "promise". and i will do it free of charge. but if economy-stimulating ppl of the upper class feel so inclined, i do accept cash or check.
bottom line: i'm disappointed.
p.s. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
