At Last

i've been getting Glamour for some reason, and i'm not sure if it's a gift and the giver forgot to inform me or if i accidentally ordered it. i don't think i'd actually spend money on this magazine, as profound and edifying as it is. but at the very least, it's blog-worthy.

the november issue has a list of "The 8 Most Romantic Songs of All Time". i can't say i agree with it, but here it is.
  1. at last. etta james. most popular wedding first-dance song.
  2. i will always love you.
  3. isn't it romantic? ah, Sabrina, my favorite. it IS romantic.
  4. the first time ever i saw your face.
  5. wonderful tonight. eric clapton. i think this was a hs dance song...
  6. nessum dorma. whaaaa...?
  7. when a man loves a woman.
  8. in your eyes.
so now i kno, if i ever get married -- which is not likely -- i will NOT have at last as my first-dance song. i want it to be...less conventional. i think alan had a good one -- the Spirited Away theme. perhaps i'll follow suit with the Howl's Moving Castle theme. it's kind of melancholy, but beautiful nonetheless. and it's a waltz, meaning it'd be easy to dance to. :)

HAHAHAHAHAHA!! (You'll have to ask Vicky why I'm laughing so hard)

Also, that song was sung by Beyonce at Obama's inaugural ball. I guess it was kind of fitting for that occasion too. :P

I don't know what "first dance" song I'd want to play, but if there's a father-daughter dance, I'd want to dance to the Carpenters' "Yesterday Once More"; it's my dad's favorite song and the lyrics are fitting! We used to sing and dance to this together, off-key, in the living room :)

kolina: hm. interesting. i dono what i'd want my father/daughter dance song to be. i don't think my dad and i have one... but i guess a fitting one would be a chinese song titled, "how can i leave you". my mom always said that if/when i get married, my dad's going to cry at my wedding. (haha.)

ron: indeed. joe hisaishi's music is so beautiful.
