Memories

i finally gathered all the ticket stubs, a couple napkins -- yes napkins; paper, not linen -- and other select mementos from the past decade or so of my life and made a scrapbook. i'm surprised that i have some of these things still.
  1. junior prom/senior ball tickets
  2. the sticky plastic cd seal (which is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get off without nails) from my miles davis kind of blue cd -- a gift for my 18th birthday
  3. numerous a's, movie, concert, museum and yoshi's tickets (i still have my TITANIC ticket stub!)
  4. ALL of my aacf banquet place cards
  5. a check for 2 dollars from gary ho...
  6. a business card from the restaurant where i had my first date
life is funny. and a 2 dollar check is weird. well, it's funny too. =)

...I used to kick myself around quite a bit in my head...I always needed more and then I resented the fact that I needed more because, well it is such a needy thing to need more, and so I lived inside this conflict.
...
...[but] I would not let myself receive love from myself, from others, or from God...It didn't feel humble, and I knew I was supposed to be humble...If it is wrong for me to receive love, then it is also wrong for me to give it because by giving it I am causing somebody else to receive it, which I had presupposed was the wrong thing to do.
...
God's love will never change us if we don't accept it.

Twelfth Night

Viola/Cesario:
Too well what love women to men may owe:
In faith, they are as true of heart as we.
My father had a daughter loved a man,
As it might be, perhaps, were I a woman,
I should your lordship.
Duke Orsino:
And what's her history?
Viola/Cesario:
A blank, my lord. She never told her love,
But let concealment, like a worm i' the bud,
Feed on her damask cheek: she pined in thought,
And with a green and yellow melancholy
She sat like patience on a monument,
Smiling at grief. Was not this love indeed?
We men may say more, swear more: but indeed
Our shows are more than will; for still we prove
Much in our vows, but little in our love.

Hair Care

talk about daunting. i was at target today looking for hair serum, because nancy had introduced the idea to me. well. who knew there were so many hair products at TARGET alone?! i stood in front of the shelves very confused. serum. leave-in conditioner. cream. sprays. color-enhancers. detanglers. anti-frizz. LOTIONS? i dono, but those all sound pretty similar to me. do they need so many names? they had squirt bottles, sprays, pumps, gels, and even those mustard bottles, where you have to twist the top in order to squeeze the stuff out. it was all very eye-opening. i must've walked up and down the aisle for 30 minutes trying to figure out what those things did to my hair. and to think i've been going all these years with just shampoo and conditioner. but NO, apparently i need anti-frizz, cream, detanglers and serums... go figure. anyway, i ended up with a "leave-in moisturizing mist with repairing serum," one of the very first products i looked at. despite the confusion and time taken, the whole process was very educational...i suppose.

If loving people is a bit of heaven then certainly isolation is a bit of hell, and to that degree, here on earth, we decide in which state we would like to live.
